This piece depicts our world in flux. Global warming taking hold, certainly in our social psyche, if not also in actuality. As the artist, I do believe there is a ray of hope – as represented in this work. The original of “Gaia Evo” (Earth Evolving) is a giclée on Arches textured stock and measures 30″W x 46″H.

  1. You’re certainly right, climate chnage is the topic of the moment, both for those who believe it is happening and those who don’t. Your artwork here does offer a ray of much needed hope.

  2. Thank you for your thoughts Juliette, and for visiting — let’s hope that we humans learn someday to live in balance with this amazing planet.

  3. Hi Rob,
Your art is very heady…great stuff. Spiritual teacher Eckhart Tolle supposes that ALL imbalance on our planet can be attributed to an imbalanced yin-yang…which in his view is the root cause of all human suffering too, on a personal, or community level. The imbalanced yin-yang, destruction of the female essence/suppression of women, I also believe, is the root cause of all imbalance in human life, climatic or otherwise. This is difficult to appreciate if one has a scientific bent of mind, but I am convinced it is true.

  4. Vikram –

Thank you for visiting my blog, and thank you for your kind words regarding my art. I enjoy it thoroughly and try to communicate something that will contribute.

I agree completely that we humans are loosing balance. Balance is essential if we are to sustain and grow — if we and the planet earth, of which we are a part, are to survive.

I do not think it is the narrow, literal biological female about which we can speak when referring to the destruction of the female essence/suppression of women. I think it is the feminine side in all of human kind that is being suppressed/destroyed — in you, and in me, in everyone.

The yin is being suppressed, the receptive nature of humankind. We have begun to stop hearing, to stop feeling. We are loosing our rooted-ness, the balance.

We are loosing our ability to nurture, to give birth and life to nurturing ideas — our ability to sustain and grow all that is around us, of which we are an intricate part in the whole.

I think the actual suppression of women is the proof that this is in fact happening.

I have read some of Eckhart Tolle and find his thoughts honorable. I see the threads of Baba Ram Dass, Neem Karoli Baba, Gwart Heeth, and much further back, Lao Tsu. I have read all of these. This is good stuff.

I would offer that you keep your own spiritual eye open as you move through life. Teachers teach, we as students should learn, and evolve, when possible, past the teacher.

    –and so it goes–
