Perception’s Window

Perception’s Window

~

we are infinite beings
awaking slowly
from some infinite place

our coming to be
unknown to us as any mystery
our essence an enigma

learned in stories
in waiting relationships
gradually we open to our identity

awareness dawns
like the rising of a newborn sun
breaking on our window of perception

we feel its warmth
and flow effortlessly into timelessness
as though immortal

we see not over the horizon
for we see no horizon
but limitless eternity

we comprehend no end
immersed only in the now
given of our origin

it is therein exists the miracle of life
we are infinite beings in this moment
dreaming to sustain the moment

  1. What a wonderfully mind stretching piece..it’s easy to get limited by the day to day but we are part of a bigger..more infinite picture..however small..jae

  2. “we are infinite beings
    awaking slowly
    from some infinite place”

This phrase rings true very true to me. A powerful portrait is “Perception’s Window”. Thank-you Rob~

  3. WOW! This is beautiful, Rob! We ARE “infinite beings, awaking slowly, from some infinite place”. I love this, one of my favorites of yours. We need to keep reminding ourselves of this fact:) We forget!

  4. I really like all of this, but most especially:

“we see not over the horizon
    for we see no horizon
    but limitless eternity”

A wonderful view of endless being… and perhaps endless love 🙂

  5. Seems like you have recovered the sunken u- boat containing the serviceable enigma code machine . Well done

  6. I like the thought of being infinite- we are born, we die, but along the way we leave a mark on the world that can never be undone (and who knows- maybe we come back, maybe it’s all circular and therefore VERY infinite)- loved the questions you ask in this…very thoughtful poem.

    1. Stu – to address your well-considered comment, for which I thank you; you will notice that I purposely differentiated between ‘being’ and ‘identity’, opening the door for a variety of interpretations of ‘infinite’, as I use it in this piece… and if you contemplate the last two lines of “Perceptions Window”, I think you will see that the concept of infinite and temporal might be able to simultaneously describe a like entity…

  7. When does consciousness begin to unfurl? For we are known to our creators before we are known to ourselves. The mother that holds her belly, the father that kisses her stomach, they know of our existence long before we are aware. The same goes with passing. Beyond our time of being we live on in the consciousness of others. We continue to exist in their dreams, and their memories. Life is perspective and that perspective is (much like in the world of physics) affected by the observer.

    Thought provoking piece. Thank you!
