Although neither the world, nor the games, are quite as noble as perhaps they might be, I find the fact that they both still exist — an encouraging sign.

I’m glad you appreciated my little statement here. I agree, as long as countries still embrace the trappings of civility, there is the promise and hope of genuine civility — maybe even an outbreak of profound humanity.
