What is / Continuum Redux

I wrote this pair of poems inspired by the ‘We Write Poetry’ prompt #12

What Is

yesterday is money spent
a corner turned
the choice that’s made
the tear that’s shed
the sentence spoken
the breath exhaled
the fuel consumed
it’s burned to ash

today is influence
momentum moving
the raindrop falling
hands on the wheel
the river flowing
the voice that’s singing
it’s face to face
it’s real time

tomorrow is the land of dreams
it’s the great unknown
the wheel of fate
it’s the far horizon
the dawn approaching
the planted seed
has no guarantee
yet it’s full of promise

Continuum Redux

yesterday was once today
today likewise was once tomorrow
tomorrow will be yesterday
but first it must become today

Conclusion: Today is the most important.:)

  2. Stan Ski Says:

But even though ‘today’ lasts forever, the only thing we can know for sure, is right now.

  3. Mary Says:

Rob, I enjoyed your writings in response to my prompt. The first poem shows the flow of life… I liked “hands on the wheel, the river flowing…” in the present.

And your second poem sums up just the way it is, says a lot in a few words!

  4. Rob Kistner Says:

Yes Irene, today is the only time and space which we actively impact, done so in a continuum of now…

Right on Stan, and tomorrow is the dream, so we must not sleep walk through ‘now’ — as Baba Ram Dass puts it, “BE here now” the emphasis on the enlightened meaning of ‘be’ as active, productive, full awareness…

Thank you Mary, the prompt created the space for meditating and was an opportunity for enlightment — well done…

Is the painting one of yours, Rob? I do like that, and the continuum, which made me think big round thoughts and gave me a little poem in response

Oh I wish the painting were mine Barbara. — I think it is exquisite! I always indicate at the bottom of my posts if the art is mine, or who the creator is — if and when I know, and I make the effort to know. Otherwise it stands anonymous, until I learn otherwise.

I’m pleased the continuum touched and sparked you — and with big round thoughts… very cool…
