Creamy Comfort

—-<§>—-

ice cream arrives
not as dessert
but as permission

a small collapsing tower
of sweetness
and surrender—
cradled briefly
in glass

helplessly drawn
we lean toward it
as if toward memory…
as if something in us
recognizes the moment
is fleeting—

so we embrace it
before it disappears

the sweetest chill
on tip of tongue
…then bloom
…then softness
…then surrender
…then exhilaration—
then gone

and yet
what lingers
is not just taste
but the escape—
the easing—
the gentle undoing

the undoing
of the weight
we carried
into that day

it does not solve anything—
it does not need to…
it simply reminds us
…the taste of love is sweet

…that there are still places
…moments
where brilliant joy
explodes—
captures us completely—
then melts slowly away

and that is
perfectly enough

<~>

To die for…

    1. Ice cream is transcendent, it is a time. It is a time machine. It can transport us back to our youth. It can take us into the future bring memories of important times bring memories of important events. Ice cream is like magic. and ice cream is love, deeply emotional love, and it can also be wings of love to carry us over the bad times — ,tice cream truly is magic.

    1. Lucas is good stuff Kim — oh yes. Used to eat it frequently those years I worked for George Lucas and my office was on Skywalker Ranch he always had fresh imported Gelato we could get in the dining room of the Indiana JoNes house! My favorite ice cream is still Tillamook small batch — but I like both.

  1. Rob, thank you for singing the praises of ice cream and what it means to you. Ice cream makes me think of times spent with my dad. He used to take us to various places around town. He’d wait in the car while we’d go in. His favorite flavor was butter pecan.

    1. Your dad had great taste Lisa — butter pecan is high on my list. My top favorite is Tillamook dark chocolate chip in pure Vanilla Bean. Right after that comes Tillamook s strawberry’s and cream! Ummm yes!.

  2. Brilliant, Rob! I think you have captured the feelings that an ice cream evokes so perfectly, my friend! Love it. ??
