Lunar Laundry Lander

—-<§>—

my lunar laundry lander tumbles clean

through suds of silvery rainbow sheen

its a cool machine — blasts off in june

spin-cycle rockets it to the moon

buttons chatter — bubbles balloon

soap-clouds a’poppin’ — launchin’ soon

rinse— repeat — up’n round it’ll go

its a galactic cosmic laundry show

now you just might think me daft

but this is a most splendiferous craft

even when I’m way-way far out there

a rocket man still needs — clean underwear

  1. Great Rob – celebrating creativity – I love the blend of fantasy and humour, embracing the joy of the mundane? and Elton is a great choice ?

  2. OH Man …. what a hilarious, creative, brilliant bit of poetry!!!! Something every spacecraft needs, to be left on the moon’s surface for future astronauts maybe?????

  3. I don’t know how ANYthing works, but I dig watchin them do their thing, just like I like watchin you do yours.

I dig watching you do yours
and I’m glad you’ve got clean drawers

    Thanks for the share!

  4. That’s such a fun twist on the prompt, Rob, and great use of alliteration, rhyme and onomatopoeia! It also made me think of Hawkwind’s ‘Silver Machine’. I especially love the phrase ‘spin-cycle rockets it to the moon’ which sounds like my washing machine’s noisy spin cycle. I enjoyed your ‘galactic cosmic laundry show’.
