Original DDE™ art: “Seabirds” by: rob kistner © 11/6/25

dreams
like beautiful white seabirds
rise up
above the ocean’s shore
weightless
their wings sparkle
glinting
with salt and dawn-light
they sail
through morning fog
calling softly to the cliffs
to the pines that hold the sky aloft
when they descend .
to marry with the sea
each wave below
seems to fondle them
then lifts them to ascend —
as if the sea itself knows
their life to be on high
to circle where gulls cry
where the wind carries whispers
of what we once dared to be —
…free
and for a breathless moment
we rise with them —
soaring — shining
part of everything
that cannot be caged
celebrating hollow bones…
and freedom

Wonderful Rob, I could see the whole scene of this magical poem.
Thank you True… 😉
Beautiful Rob. Nothing illustrates freedom like birds soaring high in the sky!

Wow so beautiful Many great images and this is stunning “part of everything that cannot be caged
celebrating hollow bones…
and freedom
Thank you very much Marja… 😉
“part of everything
that cannot be caged”
if only we could be that (if only for a moment)
I get there emotionally and mentally when I am writing, making music, and creating art. It passes Björn, but while I am in the throws, time disappears, and I am no longer caged — especially music… even with all my chronic medical conditions. I find great freedom in those moments.
What a perfect metaphor! And perfectly realised..
Thank you Rosemhary… 😉
I love how you started with a stunning simile, ‘dreams like beautiful white seabirds’, Rob, and let them gently fly through the rest of the poem, ‘glinting with salt and dawn-light’, ‘celebrating hollow bones…and freedom’.
And I was sailing on their wing/m :)… /
I dig it all, Bro, esp the last 5 lines which just lift me up & blow me away…
Thank you so much Ron, ‘ppreciate it my friend… 🙂
Love this Rob! And the soundtrack, I’ll be back to check it out!
