There are many hungers…
Original DDE™ art: “Please…” by: rob kistner © 2/23/26
—-<§>—-
hunger waits
at the edge of sleep
as I lay my head
on wanting’s pillow
folding darkness
around my stomach—
then toss’n’turn
under a blanket
of longing
I rise to rehearse
the feel of fullness
my hunger calls
through quiet rooms—
still…
nothing answers

A poignant hunger quadrille, Rob. I feel the despair of ’wanting’s pillow’ and am familiar with that ‘toss’n’turn’.
Thank you Kim. My bed can smometimes resemble a wrestler’s ring — if I’ve had a rough night.
Rob, very interesting digital image you created to go with your poem. The attachment to hunger of any kind can be less than healthy, especially when it is being ignored. This part is so poignant:
“I rise to rehearse
the feel of fullness”
I have been dabbling with the concepts and techniques of cubism. I was pleased with this after taking it through a number of iterations.
Oh, those wanting pillows (to take one into a peaceful slumber) but the night has other plans. I have had my share of tossing and turning.
The artwork is a solid piece….well done
Thank you and thank you True! This was somewhat like one of my night’s sleep.
Fantastic poem, Rob! The sadness reached out to me.

Thank you Yvette, I am pleased to have reached you… 🙂
Loved this poem. Fantastic poem, Rob.
Thank you so much Arcadia… 🙂
I have always been jealous of the ladies in my life who have all had the ability to fall asleep, on demand, in any position they fancy. While I have often struggled through nights that you have well described in this excellent little poem. Great stuff Rob ?
Thank you I almost didn’t remember writing that but once I looked at it again I remembered and that was also me playing with the Cuba type of art really like I forget the style, but that visual image took me about eight tries, but I got there and I really liked it so yeah, my wife falls asleep on demand. That’s called Cuba art you keep saying Cuba it’s not Cuba. It’s Cuba BISTCUBIST Cuba like a cube against it’s not Cuba art it’s Cuba art well this voice recognition is definitely not working frustrating when this happens, CUBIST Cuba he keep going back to Cuba never mind.
