Street Level

~

I sit
with my mind’s eye
watch the flow of people

the shuffle of feet
with their different sounds
according to their shoes

the divergent realities
through which truth stumbles frayed
to move in the world
rough as rope
knotted as every quivered promise

    1. Now that’s what I’m talking about…pure “Rob”. A taunt existential slice of life. I love the lines /frayed, to move in the world rough as rope/. Exciting word-smithing.

      1. Thank you bros! De’s personal contribution to this prompt tripped my abstract switch and I dug into my archives of “phrases past” and pulled out “rough as rope” — thence off I went through the looking glass…

    2. Love the details in the difference between the feet… I can almost see you closing your eyes, listening to their music

      1. You can tell everything about the person from the shoes, the brand, the shape and condition. How fast they are walking, are the shoes shined, have they joined similar shoes. You can read the world in the shoes — and the sound they make walking. Every thing in thrbsj
