Surrender To Joy

Sometimes only our spirit speaks…

—-<§>—-

there’s a moment
when height becomes feeling
and feeling becomes flight

the heart
loosens its gravity
thread by thread
until wonder takes over
completely

unexpecting
unafraid

we are carried
not by the hissing flame
but by surrender

inside this great silence
joy turns luminous

  1. Ah I relate to this on several levels! When we lived in Iowa, somehow our backyard was quite often in the path of a high flying but still audibly hissing hot air balloon! Our dogs would hear it before we did and start howling!!
And also, oh my yes….have been in the situation where one looks with wonder and words or even sighs will never do. That silence is in and of itself a part of the beauty and the joy. Thanks so much for posting!

  2. Another wonderful uplifting poem. It is amazing when we let wonder take over as there is beauty found in that experience.

  3. You make me think of riding a hot air balloon with your picture and your poem. I just saw Mel & Jack on S7 of Virgin River in a hot air balloon. I love the wholesomeness of that show.

    1. Thank you Ron. Friend of mine in Portland had a nice bot air balloon. The oregon coast is amazing… suspended in silence listening to the waves roll, the occasional bird, gull, or the real treat, watching and hearing peregrin falcon from the perspective of the balloon’s basket… WOW bros! 🙂

  4. A palpable capture of a moment, Rob, that left me feeling like a hot air balloon. I especially love the lines:
    ‘we are carried
    not by the hissing flame
    but by surrender’.

  5. Much of the time, we have to let go and stop trying to control everything, before we can enjoy the moment.

A calm, floating write, Rob. Nice.

    1. Thank you Sean… 🙂 Surrendering to the moment is always within our reach as humans — I am not certain it is in our primary ‘wiring’ …which makes it difficult. That circuit seems to close for some as they age, for any number of reasons. But what wonderful release and joy when we are able.

  6. Lovely Rob, you capture that point when physical experience transforms into a spiritual or emotional one ??

  7. I love this, this expresses how I feel when I surrender into a relaxing meditation, emotions rise and bubble in colours and in the silence I feel awe at just being…. ?

  8. i can feel the breeze and wonder of your words… your poem oozes with soaring wings a sense of freedom i wish for with my two feet planted on earth
