The Missing

~

without warning they were simply gone
we were left bewildered, to carry on
the entire family strangely disappeared
what happened here is truly very weird

they were taken in an instant long ago
to where, we will likely never know
midst this kitchen clutter, it abruptly ended
was life concluded, or just suspended

    1. Some evilgelicals will tell you they were raptured. People in 1890 will tell you they were Jews and the secret police snatched them. People in 1830 New Orleans will tell you they were free persons of color who were snatched to be sent up to cotton country in Arkansas. Many answers to your questions.

    2. One of my favorite shows “The Leftovers” ~~~~ your poetry reminds me of just how much I enjoyed the series. Thanks.

    3. I remember once visiting a ghost town in Northern Norway and how it seemed like people just had left in the middle of their breakfast… so very eerie

    4. I love to watch videos and shows about abandoned places, so this really resonates with me. When a lot is left behind I always wonder, why did they leave in the midst of life here, and where did they go?
