Peacefully Stoned

“Peace is liberty in tranquility.”
— Marcus Tullius Cicero

~ these stacked standing stones of Stonehenge are over 3,000 years old ~

Stacked by visionaries past
blessed in hope and courage
one upon the other
knowledge upon learning
these standing stones of peace

they call across the ages
beckoning us to rise
step into the future
to envision a new dream
let fear and hatred cease

  1. I love the message it sends across the ages… I hope that there will be many listening to the songs of stone.

    1. If we are to exist as a species, we must Glenn. I am trying to put statements of hope into the cosmos, while not burying my head and still crying out and striving for sanity.

    1. Merril, we must believe people will pull theirs out and look over the horizon toward possibility — or we’re fucked! I will put hope out there while still crying out for logic and sanity.

    1. Bev, it’s simply because there is more fear than courage, more insecure frightened haters than there are balanced confident lovers. People do not think for themselves, so they huddle in their close-minded gaggles and throw stones at logic.

  2. If only more could seek a new dream and learn from the nightmares of the past. Wonderful poem and photo. I enjoy
constructing rock totems in my travels. I often wonder how long
    they remained standing.

    1. From your lips to the world’s ears True. I have personally seen stacked standing stones here in the US photographically verified more than 150-years-old. The standing stacked stones of Stonehenge are over 3,000-years-old. I think the degree of intention, the size, and the execution determines how long a stone stack will endure

    1. They are warnings. I chose to see them metaphorically as a warning from the ancestors to get our shit together Ingrid — before it is simply too late. Perhaps they could be a prayer for peace and the power to salvage our species.

  3. I too love the message. I am always in awe when I come across smooth stones that have been stacked and form a haphazard tower upward but somehow project softness and peace rather than a jagged hardness.
    Well done!
