Summer Song

~

At last fair summer has arrived, just in time to rescue my sense of humor. The winter rains held stubborn this year. But now the sky is sunny and clear, as is my lifting mood, rocking summer memories in the golden warmth. I’m thankful for this season of plenty.

The seeds push sprouts through the rich warm earth, as nature cycles to this time of birth. New buds pop forth through ready limbs. Mountain streams run fast and clear as nature’s curtain lifts on this magical time of year — as the veil lifts on my sweet recall.

Bird songs echo through the greening trees to serenade my reverie. The heady fragrance of summer carries on the gentle breeze, as the bold hues and rich sounds of this beautiful boisterous season fill my soul to bursting! Joyous is my heartsong!

turns in golden summer sun

    1. Bravo, brother, a testament to life itself, to summer, a memorial to your own spirit. I like the line /new buds pop forth through ready limbs/. I sit on \our covered deck, in the shade of a 200 year old maple, creating poetry out lof the microcosm of magic in my back yard.

      1. Appreciate tye kind words man! Sounds like a great way to enjoy Memorial Day. We are certainly having great weather today in the PacNW! Sounds like a great stately old tree.

      1. That’s why I haved lived in the Pacific Northwest for the past 30 years Dwight, it’s 74 degrees here — and we do not have humidity in this region.

    2. A warm tribute to summer, Rob. Thank you for raising the temperature for me this morning as it is overcast and raining here. The only hint of warmth is the honeysuckle outside my window and a solitary pink rose right in the centre of the clump.

      1. You are welcome KIM. Just stare at that rose and keep sayin 3 times, “Summer is comin’, Summer is comin’, Summer is comin’!” It will be Summer before you know it! 🙂

    3. Lovely aspect of veteran’s day… the transition to summer, a day to enjoy the weather and feel the sun in the face… well done.

    4. My daughter (who lives in Salem) has been flooding my Facebook pages with glorious photos of the gardens of the NW.
You describe the lush Spring rebirth well. (By the way, have you yet to read “Riverhorse”?)

      1. Yes, I am reading “Riverhorse” but as I tend to do, I am reading it along with 3 other books (Dean Koontz “The Forbidden Door”, Philip Margolin “The Perfect Alibi”, biography of Elon Musk) none of which I have finished yet – but I will, and I will share my thoughts with you.
