The Thaw

As soft I knelt
bright shone the sun
though the winter held
warmth made inroad

as will my heart
the lagoon soon melts
with breaking dawn
my warm tears flowed

renewed love
is what I felt
bright shone the sun
as soft I knelt

  1. I like the circularity of your quadrille, Rob, beginning and ending with ‘as soft I knelt / bright shone the sun’ and ending with ‘bright shone the sun / as soft I knelt’, and I love the internal rhyme and assonance of ‘the lagoon soon melts’ – it made me go ‘oooh’!

    1. Thank you Paul… I love writing poetry, and I greatly appreciate that my approach to writing song lyrics and poetry is enjoyed by others. It is that enjoyment that has fired my 60+ years of writing. My lifelong ADD has made my concentration for writing anything longer than a short story impossible. I get unbearably bored focused on one story line and desperately need to move on -+ but songs, and my form of poetry are a joy! Thank you again for your kind words.
