U-turn

This “found poem” is made from the first line from each monthly poem I posted in 2023. At the very bottom of this post is the title of each in chronological order. These first lines were not assembled chronologically.

Mysterious lady in blackened silk
your essesnce unearthed in Corsica
we have watched billowing pearl clouds
sing to me my sweet sweet lover

a whispered zephyr tosses my hair
a stolen kiss in the night
I can still feel it — all of it
tonight memories unfold

hmmm… excuse me please
this american life is flawed
nightfall now — the darkness descends

  1. You really came from a wonderful place to another place of darkness of mind… let us hope there will be some light again.

    1. I was just riding the horse in the direction it was going Björn. Those were the first lines of the first poems of each month in 2023. Now I did switch them around a bit to come up with a interesting poem — but that’s what I writ, and that’s what you get my friend… 🙂

  2. This is beautifully done, Rob! I especially love this part; “a whispered zephyr tosses my hair/a stolen kiss in the night/I can still feel it — all of it/tonight memories unfold.” 😀

  3. Hi Rob! Well I could swear I already commented on this fabulous “found” poem. But I don’t see it here. Suffice it to say, I think the poem flows so well….and all these first lines are tell tales of the fact that you must be a romantic at heart! 🙂

  4. Rob,

Your imagery of billowing pearl clouds and a whispered zephyr adds a touch of mystique. The transition from a stolen kiss to the acknowledgment of life’s flaws is both poignant and thought-provoking. Well-crafted and evocative!

  5. Your poetry rings true from line to line. It starts seductive from your romantic heart and then it twists into a harsh reality. sigh

    Happy New Year my Friend!
