The Keys

Ambition courage and generosity
forgiveness insight and honesty
understanding and above all love
remember these
the 8 sacred keys

Ambition opens the door to success
enabling more where once was less

Courage opens the door to possibility
releasing the shackles of insecurity

Generosity opens the door to abundance
lifting all from poverty’s encumbrance

Forgiveness opens the door to peace
enabling conflict and violence to cease

Insight opens the door to wisdom
setting the mind on the path to freedom

Honesty opens the door to truth
giving the bite of deceit no tooth

Understanding opens the door to acceptance
breaking down the wall of fear’s reluctance

Love is the key considered best
it is the secret to happiness
because it opens the door
to all the rest

  1. Oh, I love this so much:

    “remember these
    the 8 sacred keys
ambition opens the door to success
enabling more where once was less”

    1. I just could not escape the pull of those keys in this great image from Carrie. There certainly may be a couple more I address this weekend, fabulous offerings! 🙂

    1. This is what the image outlined for me Lisa, I am pleased it resonated with you. Those 8 keys just hanging their screamed they required significance. I started writing down as many important positive human qualities that I could think of. Then I started grouping by relative similarity, then carving down until I arrived at these 8.

  2. Love is the key considered best
it is the secret to happiness
    because it opens the door
    to all the rest

Love the above words philosophically classic befitting of your great writing skill Rob! Enjoyed your write!

    Hank

    1. Thank you Hank, very much. This is the verse that best closes the piece, so I cut the final verse I originally had so, that it now ends here on these lines, that you quoted. Your comment helped mr realize that I had written one verse too many! So sgain, thank you. 🙂

  3. This needs to be on the wall of every school.
Wish I would have seen this when my children were younger.

Can I give it to them?

  4. Rob,

Yes, love is the key that opens all the other doors. There is wisdom in your words. A manifesto on life with 8 sacred keys to happiness.

Wonderfully, done my friend…It’s a mantra that worth repeating…
