Young Flower

Young Flower

•

velvet soft
passion’d purple
newly bloomed flower

full and succulent
tender plumped folds
glisten with dewy nectar

heady fragrance
pleasures the senses

luscious form
ripened blush
delights the eye

a gentle touch parts silken petals
reveals the inner bud
swollen with the urgency of life

intoxicating
such vital beauty

consumed
one savors slowly

exquisitely delicious
this young flower
full bloomed

  1. So, I thought this was tastefully sensual, but I did get a little hung up on the word “young.” I’m sure it was just me because the end says, “full bloomed.”

Aside from my own hang-ups, it’s quite lovely 🙂

    1. Lori – rest assured, the key phrase here is as you identified, “full bloomed”. It’s a celebration of beauty and vitality, not perversion — besides, I’m a 64-year-old weed, all the flowers in the garden are ‘young’ from my perspective… 🙂

  2. Absolutely gorgeous words! I really like the way you’ve described the beauty of the young flower, the “passion’d purple” especially.
“a gentle touch parts silken petals
    reveals the inner bud
swollen with the urgency of life”
    Another profound and beautiful para.
